I'm fairly sure that the scene with the monster and the scene involving the papers are two separate scenes taking place in different places. There is just no transition whatsoever.
You know what's really amusing about this page is that Troncha, the girl with the antenna on her head, is a telepath. I mean, that's her power. That's her whole role in the group. And she can't figure out how to call for help? I don't think Mettie is the only one who needs professional help.
